Update

Sorry it's been so long since I've written! Myla keeps me busy!!

A couple weeks ago, Myla went to the vet for her booster shots. While I was there, I asked the vet about some digestive issues that she has been having. Since she had coccidia when she was younger, the vet thought that it may have damaged the lining of her intestines, and as a precaution put her on medication along with a diet of just boiled beef and rice for 7 days. Once she was off the medicine and the bland diet, though, she went right back to her digestive issues. We decided that it was her puppy food, and have since changed it. It has only been a couple of days since we changed her food, and she is doing a lot better!

A couple weekends ago, my family went to Chicago for the Backer Show and Myla went along with us. She LOVED it!! She met all different sizes of dogs, got a lot of attention from everyone, and got all sorts of free stuff. There was, however, an incident with a large yellow lab (his owner was petting Myla and I think he got a little jealous and barked at her, which scared her), but otherwise she did great. No accidents at the show, and only one in the hotel room. She also met a Chihuahua mix that was staying in our hotel. They were about the same size, and she LOVED him! Sunday, I had to carry her every where because she was SO tired, and she slept the whole car ride home!

Myla and Sunny are still not best friends. She annoys him...A LOT! Myla tries her hardest to get him to play with him, but Sunny doesn't see very well, so he just sees it as an attack. Here is a video of how they interact:

(The yelp at the end was Myla. Sunny actually caught her, but he never hurts her. I think she just got surprised that he actually caught her.)

Myla had her first puppy class on Monday, and it was exhausting for both of us! There are 9 puppies in the class, all under a year old. Myla is not only the youngest, but also the smallest, for right now. The first 25 minutes, she did not want to do anything that I asked her to do. All she wanted to do was sniff the ground, greet the other dogs (which is not allowed the first couple of classes so the dogs can get used to eachother), or jump on the instructor or me. It was a little frustrating, especially since she listens to me pretty well at home. She got better the longer the class went on. I do have a few things to work on with her at home, as well as there. She gets really anxious when the dogs bark there, so I'm hoping that by going to these classes, she will get used to other dogs and not be so nervous around them.

Overall, Myla is doing great! My whole family loves her, including my grandparents. In the next couple weeks, I am going to take her to one of my friend's house to have a play date with her two small/medium dogs, which I'm sure Myla will love!

This is Myla's new bed that I got from the Backer Show. The lady told me that it should last her entire life! She LOVES it!

  1. Video is just too cute! Myla obviously knows her place and lets Sunny dominate. Love how he just stands there and lets her runs circles around him!All the best with training!
