Myla's Firsts

On Thursday, I took Myla to her first vet appointment. She was a big hit with the vet and the vet tech! She is also in perfect health. When I picked up Myla from CCHS, she weighed 6.30 pounds. At the vet on Thursday, a week after I picked her up, she weighed 6.50 pounds. She has to go back this Thursday for her third booster shot and then again on October 24th for her rabies shot and more heartworm meds. Puppies are so expensive, but she is SO worth it!

On Friday, Myla got her first bath. She REALLY didn't like it, but she didn't fuss too much about it. After her bath, I wrapped her in a towel, which she loved! The first thing she wanted to do when she went outside, though, was to roll in the grass! Oh well....

Today, I bought her a fleece hoodie, since it is starting to get cold. We are also taking her to Chicago this weekend, and I figured it would be colder up there. She really doesn't like being outside when it's cold, especially since her ears are now standing up and the wind makes them cold.

In other news, Myla is about 90% housebroken!! I'm really excited because that means less messes for me to clean up!

She is starting to get along with Sunny and our cat, Checkers, better. Checkers, however, like to pester Myla, and then when Myla thinks that the cat wants to play with her, Checkers will hiss and bat at her, making Myla yelp and run for cover. We used to blame Myla for this, but now have realized that Checkers is baiting her and punish Checkers instead. Hopefully soon they will get along!

Here are some pictures of Myla around our house. She never fails to be cute or funny!

I have taught her how to wait at the door before coming in the door. She picks up things so quickly!

She LOVES her big brother!!

Myla and Checkers have their differences!

She loves being out in the yard with Sunny!!

  2. Myla is becoming a grown-up puppy! Learning new things every day. It looks like she is becoming fast friends with her sibling, Sunny. I absolutely love, love, LOVE those ears!! Yep, they're pretty big, but no worries... she will grow into them. :)

  4. Myla looks so cute. I like seeing how her ears lift in your series of pictures.

All of the pups were adopted before they went back to the shelter. Panda was too. Panda was spayed and went to her new home last Saturday.
It was a happy ending for everyone.

The four pups who were adopted to homes closer to Champaign are all in the same puppy class!
